Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sara Rainford. I am a wedding photographer in the Kootenays.
I favour shooting a photojournalistic style of wedding. This is a style that allows me to capture candid and significant moments, while letting the day unfold. It allows for ultimate creativity and unveils the true spirit of the bride and groom. I shoot both digital and film and have a complete portable studio light set-up.
I have worked as a photographer for ten years shooting everything from freelance adventure sports work to photographing for commercial and wedding clients. During my time in Calgary, I assisted for two of the best wedding photographers in the city. I gained valuable experience from each photographer as both have unique and differing styles; some of which carry through my own photographic creations.
I was a member of the APPA and PPOC (Professional Photograhers of Canada) for five years. I have received several international photo awards, including 2 grand prizes. I have displayed photos as part of the Calgary Stampede International Photo Exhibit and “Women: A Photographic Journey” at ArtSpace in Calgary. In 2004, “Musashi” was selected as the Banff Mountain Film Festival signature image and used to promote the 2004 film festival worldwide. In October 2008, my work was on display in the Whyte Museum in Banff as part of a 3 month exhibit featuring action and adrenalin sports in Western Canada.
My wish is to capture each wedding and make it as unique as the spirit of the couple getting married. I love getting “the shot”. I know it when I see it: the look, the giggle, the sizzle, the sparkle....... I want you to love your wedding photos. Let me capture your special day.
